The Ulster Beer Garden*

Welcome to The Ulster Beer Garden, A personal journey round this great wee corner of the World to find the best outdoor watering holes our limited weather allows

Okay. So Ulster isn't noted for it's glorious summer weather. But we're a hardy lot in this part of the World and set our beer garden weather conditions a little lower than most.

The weather forecast says 15 degrees, no rain and no wind. That's an Ulster Beer Garden Day.

Northern Ireland's 2025

According to the met office, a heat wave occurs when an area gets three consecutive days of 25c. This year Northern Ireland had 1 heatwave from July 10th to 13th and 6 absolute scorchio days in total where temps hit 25c, which was very high for this part of the world.

A Summers day is classed as any day where temperatures reach 21c and the sun shines for four hours or more. Traditionally Northern Ireland gets between just 5-10 days a year. In 2025 we had 10 days of 21-24c and sunshine. {in 2007 Northern Ireland experienced 0!}

A nice day in Northern Ireland is if the temps get between 16-20c and the sun shines for a few hours at least, or temps get above 20c and whilst the sun might not shine, it at least stays dry and not windy. So far in 2025 we had a whopping 34 nice days, which is very high for a Northern Irish summer.

Our minimum standard for Ulster Beer Garden weather is 15c with little to no wind or rain. We had 51 okay days where you might need a jacket or a bit of shelter but could still enjoy sitting outside. â€‹

All in all we had a pretty decent summer in 2025 and occasional Beer garden weather is still on the cards on October 1st

Gardens Visited

Beer Gardens, Restaurants, Hotels, Coffee Shops...If it's made an effort to try and take advantage of a nice day, and it's in Ulster, we want to know about it. And, no, it doesn't necessarily have to serve a beer. We like a really good coffee too, or a milkshake for that matter!
